I would like to spend a week on the beach in Southern Italy in MID-OCTOBER. Any suggestions on warm, nice and budget priced places.

Max, I don't know if this qualifies as a southern beach or not, but my husband and I stayed here in October 2001. It's in the Massa Lubrense. While the weather was very warm that year, and people were swimming in the sea, I'm not sure if that's typical of that time of year there. Nerone is a very small fishing village and was the perfect place to decompress after visiting Rome. The Certosa, recommended on this board, was not at all luxurious and very inexpensive.

There is someone on the board, Vicenzo or Vincenzo, who lives in the area and posts about his favorites in the area, so you might want to search under his name or under Massa Lubrense.
