Max, I don't know if this qualifies as a southern beach or not, but my husband and I stayed here in October 2001. It's in the Massa Lubrense. While the weather was very warm that year, and people were swimming in the sea, I'm not sure if that's typical of that time of year there. Nerone is a very small fishing village and was the perfect place to decompress after visiting Rome. The Certosa, recommended on this board, was not at all luxurious and very inexpensive.

There is someone on the board, Vicenzo or Vincenzo, who lives in the area and posts about his favorites in the area, so you might want to search under his name or under Massa Lubrense.

I just did a search using the name Vincenzo and pulled up this thread, which has a lot of info about the area. Don't forget to copy both lines of the URL.

If you want much more information about the area, type Vincenzo into the text search box at the top of your page. Go over to the right and highlight Italy and then press find.
Buon viaggio
