New Years in Paris

Hello All -
I replied personally to Barbara's email and cc'd several of you, so this may be partially redundant.
I expressed my wish to not get together on the 30th, but will now offer a compromise. How about a glass of wine in the evening instead of lunch. That way it won't cut into the daylite hours of sightseeing etc. I also think trying to meet for lunch with an unknown quantity of people could get troublesome. I feel the same about attempting all of us dining together on NY eve. We would probably opt for meeting everyone post dinner, maybe at the place you decided to eat at.
I will reiterate my enthusiasm for the idea of getting together and apologize for what may be seen as being a bit picky as to the where and how. Feel free to go on with any other plans if they suit the group more. I would love to meet if for no other reason than you are all so agreeable and obliging, I hope I am not coming off as negative.

The 30th would be a good day to meet as it is the day my friend and I will be arriving. Our plans however seem to be going badly. We cannot find a place to stay for our first 2 days the 30th and 31st ( the most important days!) We were stupid and left it pretty late. And we already have our train ticket, so we can't back out of Paris. We are trying our hardest to find a hotel, but who knows we might have to sleep on the street i'll let you guys know if we will be meeting you when I find out more about our hotel situation

I haven't been back here for about a week or so, but it's great to see such a positive response. The 30th sounds good to me. I agree with the idea of keeping things casual as far as just meeting everyone for a drink that afternoon and then making further plans for that evening and New Year's. I expect to have some good suggestions for clubs, bars, etc., but I'm waiting to hear from a friend (French model) who will be coming to U.S. in mid-December. Right now I'll plan to be at the restaurant at 1:00 p.m. on the 30th unless it seems like the plan changes. See you all there!

Danielle,

Try Hotel de Seze at 16, rue de Seze in the 9th arr. Their phone number is
01 47 42 69 12 and their fax is 01 40 07 10 95. I just sent them a fax yesterday cancelling 2 double rooms we had reserved for December 31. I haven't heard back from them yet, so I don't know if they've cancelled them yet. But give it a try. Maybe they'll also have one for the 30th. The outside doesn't look like much but the rooms look pretty good. The rate they quoted me was 600FF. Check it out at www.france-hotel-guide.com. Good luck!
