yk-
If you have an older EC bag, I think the material on the Bohemian is pretty similar. Definately more water/dirt resistant than Lesportsac, but I don't think it can go in the washer, which I do with Lesportsac.

Thanks elberko. My old Eagle Creek bag is made of heavy duty canvas. I may go to an actual store to check out the Bohemian bag - hopefully there's at least one or two stores near me that carries it.

Flygirl-Yes it's the Lowepro 100. It's great if all you want to do is carry your DSLR camera and a lens. But there's really no room for anything else, like a guidebook.
While my back feels better with the weight on my back, ultimately, I prefer to have my bag in the front where I feel safer.

Hi Kristina
Mine is the 200. It actually is pretty roomy, but, it can be a little heavy especially when I put my guidebook, blackberry, wallet, etc in it. At the risk of sounding like a dork, when I am in full-shoot mode, I bring it around to my front and wear it in slingshot-mode - not in back. You look like you are carrying a baby up front though! It's a little easier to walk around for longer periods of time like that as well but it doesn't beat carrying "nada".

A quick update:
I was at a luggage store yesterday to look for the Eagle Creek bag. Unfortunately, they don't stock the Bohemian bag. However, it has a smaller Eagle Creek bag and I really like the material. It's much better than my old Eagle Creek bag which was made of heavy duty canvas. The current material seems to be fairly dirt and water resistant.

I've had a couple of Eagle Creek bags (the Vagabond maybe?) and while they aren't girly or "fashionable" they are extremely practical and nearly indestructible, very dirt and water resistant (and food and wine and everything else).
The "ballistic" fabric is a durable heavy duty nylon, very popular for luggage and sport bags.

bramsole, did you ever get a new bag?
A quick update, I finally went to a store that has the EAgle Creek Bohemian, and I DON'T like it at all. It's actually inferior (in terms of organization) to the old Eagle Creek bag that I currently have.
I looked up the REI Donner bag that some of you like, and it's looking pretty good to me. http://www.rei.com/product/767099 I like the outside flap which is separate from the main zippered compartment.
I also am looking at another Eagle Creek, the Drifter.

The sizes are comparable between the 2, and the Drifter is a few ounces lighter. I guess the difficult task is finding a store that carries both models so that I can compare and contrast!

yk--I loved all the compartments in the Donner bag. And the front ones close via velcro, so you can hear if anyone tries to get their mitts in there, lol! The main compartment has two zipper pulls, with holes in each. I took a small lock and so noone could get in there.

I just bought this bag from QVC for my trip to Italy in September after reading old posts here. It is expandable, zips closed, has many compartments, and came with a neck wallet too!

I guess I'm weird. I prefer a somewhat smaller bag for travel -- not so heavy that my shoulder aches at the end of the day. I'm on my third BeSafeBag, www.daymakers.com, and I prefer the rather flat u-shape bag with steel cable across-the-body shoulder strap. Even fully loaded, it fits close to the body and doesn't look bulky. I can carry my wallet, touch-up makeup, tissues, medicines, etc., within zippered pockets. My flat fold umbrella, a small guide book and a map will fit in the back open pocket. If I need to take along a water bottle, I can clip it onto the strap where it meets the purse. There isn't room for a camera so DH totes that. I love being hands-free and knowing that someone isn't going to slash the strap and steal the bag.

I just bought a lug bag today- they have many styles to choose from in similar color schemes. Lots of pockets for storing various items, the one I bought has handles, messenger strap and tuck-away back-pack straps which my globe-trotting dd assures me will come in handy!
