Planning a trip the end of May, have some miles. Thought of flying in to Venice and ending in Rome. Our trip is 14 days. Any suggestions? And, start in Venice or end up in Venice?

Start in Venice, end in Rome. The flights will probably work out better for you.

Where do you live? Many would suggest starting your trip in Venice because airline departures to the US are very early--about 7:00AM--requiring you to leave your hotel by about 4:30AM. Flights back from Rome are later in the morning or early afternoon.

Concur with the flight suggestions already posted vis a vis flying home from Rome. Splitting your itinerary 4/4/6 Venice/Florence/Rome (4/5/5 if it were me but you might not be as taken with Florence as I am). Decide your itinerary early and lock-in your accommodations as early as you can for best choice (if not best price). Ditto for sightseeing. Reserve early to avoid disappointment and ensure flexibility. Bring comfortable walking shoes 'cuz yer gonna do a lot of it.

I suggest:

Fly into Venice - 4 nights, train to Florence - 4 nights (visit Siena), train to Rome - 5 nights (visit Orvieto).

Fly home from Rome.

I am interested, being Italian to take a one day cooking class in Tuscany.
Is Florence near Tuscany to do this type of class, or does anyone have another idea?
