New Passport Question

A friend just received his new passport, but the middle name only has the first 3 characters. Is that Ok? As an example...
"Thomas Joh" instead of "Thomas John". Will this be a problem?

I somehow doubt it would be since when you make many reservations although they want the name "exactly" as it appears on the passport they often opnly ask for the first and last names.

If anyone did ask for the middle name I would simply fill it in exactly as it is on the passport.

if anyone even asks about the "funny name" just say that's the way it is and the passport proves it.

Of course, if you want to exchange the passport and wait for its return you could probably do that, too.

And we are all getting these passports for traveleverywhere because it is going to make the country more secure and a mistake like THAT happens...hmmmm.

Thanks for the quick replies. I don't think anyone would notice anyway. The name on the airline/cruise ticket just has the middle initial.

mine was lyn instead of lynn for a while. no one noticed and i doubt anyone would make a fuss since its a middle name. if it was the first name i'd say get it fixed.
