New boutique hotel / B&B in Paris

Paris Notes highlights a 'new' hotel in Paris that is in a renovated 16th-century maison around the Arts et Metiers metro stop. I failed to note the street address and can't find it on their website, oddly enough. I think it is on rue de Montmorency since it references the Nicolas Flamel house.

There are 5 rooms - 225€, 2 with twins, all with mahogany baths. The entire house can be reserved for 2400€ per night, sleeping 8-10.

It has air-conditioning and looks very plush for those with the funds to stay there.

Well, now I certainly know where to direct the next poster looking for a really romantic and different place to stay in Paris.

Gotta go get a tissue, y'all...I'm drooling!

I think the furnishings are beautiful, but one thing that shines through, so to speak, is how dark the place is! If it really is like the photos, I'd be walking around in hushed tones and I'd almost feel like I was at a vampire convention or something.

travelnut, i read about that hotel in one of my magazines. A 16th century townhouse that looks like a hotl particulier of a flamboyant friend. It was a ruin inside before restoration.
it goes on to say, the venetian room tops for sheer regality, the velvet room is the sexiest , the elephant room most enchanting.

Beautiful rooms--but I'd sure be nervous in the one without a window.

I wonder whether Nicolas Flamel worked on his sorcer's stone there?

The decor IS dark, but interesting. If I were in Paris in winter with a thick mystery or medieval history novel as a companion, it would be just the ticket. Otherwise, a bit much.

For a really different boutique hotel in an unusual neighborhood, there is always Le Kube (www.kubehotel.com).

It looks nice, but isn't really to my taste. I wouldn't ever stay there or pay that for it. It isn't a hotel, either, and I'll bet one of the reasons is that they need to circumvent the French hotel requirements for standards. I think it is illegal to have a room in a hotel with no windows, for example, not only for livability reasons but safety reasons.

There isn't any way in the world I'd pay 2400 euro a night for that, AC or not.

Christine, I think for the whole house, with 5 bedroom, breakfest, excercise room sauna and staff it is the 2400.eu per night. The rooms per night are 225. Do you think that is too high. Call me craze, but it could be interesting sitting infront of a fire in a thunderstorm reading the novel "Historians" .

This is a beautiful house, indeed. The four or five times that I have been there, it was a private residence and I was a guest, but I have to say that it really is not as dark as the photos on the website. For anyone wanting a unique Paris experience, this is the place. I do not know who is operating it as a B&B so I have no knowledge of the service but it is a gorgeous home.

It is so exotic, beautiful and different. The only problem I would have with it would be the darkness. I love light. They have done a fabulous job putting it all together. I have passed on their website to a co-worker who loves staying in the Marais.

Thank you Mimi for your info. When you stayed at the Marais House was it a B & B then. Do you think 240 euro is to high a price?

Your other thread has the answer... and I'm sorry to say there is only one review on Tripadvisor now, and it isn't a good one.
