Need Trenitalia advice

BACKGROUND:
We are spending 3 nights in Florence then 4 nights in Venice. Flying into VCE and will immediately catch train (Eurostar, 2nd class) from Mestre to Florence (RT flight was WAY cheaper than open jaw). Return eurostar train will be Florence to the Santa Lucia station.

We will be staying in apt's in both cities and we need to give each landlord the exact time we will be arriving at the respective train stations (where they will meet us). This is why I'm getting advance train tickets in the first place. US Airways flight arrives VCE 8:20am and we will have carry-on luggage only. I will call my CC company before attempting the charge.

QUESTIONS:
1) What is the earliest train after that I can be assured of catching?
2) On trenitalia.it , in addition to the graphic where you click on seat arrangement preference, there are boxes to type in what train car you want and what seats you want. What should I type in these boxes?

We would recommend against pre-booking train, through trenitalia over the internet. Most travelers book at the station. The reason if any issue develop like a late flight etc, there is no refunds. We booked in advance and had a very diffult time. Suggest you check out rick steve, graffi board, train traveler tips.

Bardo - If your flight's on time you'll have no problem catching the 10.44 Eurostar from Mestre (arr. Florence Santa Maria Novella 13.21).

If you're first off the plane and grab a taxi you might just make the 09.19 IC Plus - but NB it goes to Campo Di Marte & Rifredi, NOT SMN.

There are regular buses from Venice airport to Mestre station.
(Deps: 08.51 - 08.59 - 09.21 - 09.51)

Fare € 2.50. Get tickets inside the airport at the ATVO kiosk.

Hope this helps ...

Steve

Hi B,

You will be taking the 10:44 from Mestre.

When you book your tickets, just choose two seats.

>there are boxes to type in what train car you want and what seats you want. <

That is only for people who want to sit next to someone who already has a ticket.

Have a nice visit.

paramus,
Yes, unfortunately I am being asked what
time/train my landlords are to meet me at.

Steve,
Thanks, I'll book the 10:44 Eurostar to SMN. This sounds like a comforatble window and SMN is much closer to apt.

Anyone have answer for question #2?
