Need to meet daughter at CDG - please help
My teenage daughter will be arriving in Paris in December a few days after us on a US Air flight (g-d willing!) My question is - where should we plan to meet? This is the first European trip for all of us and I don't want to mess up and tell her to meet us at baggage claim if we won't be able to make it past security that far. Any recommendations? My husband is planning to take the train to meet her and return as well. We are staying in the 6th arre. in St. Germain des Pres. Is this feasible or advisable? When we arrive (3 of us) we are planning to take the Air France bus or possibly Paris Shuttle. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for help!

Hi Laura,
You will not be able to eet her at the baggage claim. That is in the secure area.
Which terminal will she come into? It could make a difference.
Youcould also arrange for a shuttle or a driver to meet her and bring her to your hotel. A shuttle would be no more than DH going out and coming back with her by train.

US Air uses Terminal 1 (the round one). The RER/Train will stop at "Charles de Gaulle Aeroport 1" but will require a free shuttle ride to reach the terminal building ("navette"
.
The RER ticket is almost 8E one-way, using line B(3) which runs thru St Germain/Latin Quarter area.
After your daughter is met, then of course, the path is reversed: shuttle from terminal to RER station, RER to St Germain area, walk or metro to hotel.
I would say to agree to meet on the Arrivals level at Gate/Porte 34-36; the terminal map indicates there is a cafe/coffee shop there. www.adp.fr

Michael is right. there is only one way to come out of customs/ baggage claim. I have met people there many times. I was just there and don't remember a place to sit but do remember a mag. store. I always use the RER to get to and from the airport. I always buy a return ticket because the line at the airport can be very long. Taking the RER always depends on how many bags you have. Make sure you have a ticket for her so you don't have to wait in line.

You could also meet at the McDonalds on the ground floor of Terminal One but the best bet is to wait outside of the customs doors. Why not say if you don't meet at the customs door by a specific time then you can meet at the bookstore or McDonalds. You could also take a cell phone and just call each other as well.
