Need to get from VCE to Trieste by train

We are landing at VCE airport on a Wednesday morning, and want to immediately go to Trieste (we are hitting Venice on the way back). Should we take a shuttle bus into Venice and then catch a train at Santa Lucia station, or is there a better option? Thanks!

I think that it woulbe faster and cheaper to take a (land) taxi to Venezia Mestre train station. Every train headed to Trieste will stop or originate there.

Best wishes,

Rex

Thanks - great sugggestion. If you have any kind of guess to the cost, it would help with budgeting. If not, no problem!

I'd be surprised if it's more than 10-15 euro, but I cannot tell you for sure from personal experience.

You can also take the blue ATVO airporter bus from VCE direct (nonstop) to the Mestre train station, for a fare of Euro 2.50. Travel time is 17 minutes.

Schedules at www.atvo.it

Don't confuse the ATVO bus to the Mestre Station with the ATVO bus to Piazzale Roma in Venice proper. Get on the correct bus (which depart from outside the arrivals area).

A taxi to the Mestre station is likely to run about 20 Euros.
