Need suggestions for 10 day Itinerary for Sicily

Would appreciate input on where to spend ten days in Sicily include hotel suggestion and restaurants if you could. I also read somewhere here I think, that you can take a 4 hour ferry from Napoli to somewhere in Sicily, is that true? 'Cause it would give me an excuse to revisit la Bella Napoli.

Hi Jim,

When you go to Sicily make sure you visit Mt. Etna. When I was there I went with my family but I'm sure they have organized tours that take you up the mountain. You can actually walk on the craters (which are dormant ofcourse) and on a good day the view is spectacular! Also, a good splace to see is Taormina. Lots of tourist there and nice view. Another place to include is Siracusa where you can visit the greek theater. Agrigento also has some greek ruins. Acireale or Acitrezza are nice to drive by. They are along the eastern coast. Catania has a lot of history and is a nice city to visit. I haven't really visited the western part of Sicily but I know that Palermo is also very nice and has sand beaches, whereas the easter coast has peables. Sorry I can't help you with hotels or the ferry. If you are on the northeastern part of sicily, you can take a ferry to visit the Eolie islands. I hope this helps.

If you could be a little more specific about your tentative plans and interests I might have ideas to add. (Not in the mood to write volumes in response to such an open-ended Q at the moment.)

The ferry from Palermo to Naples is more like 8 to 9 hours, and it is overnight. I warn you, make first class reservations on the ferry, or you will be sitting in an auditorium like seat the entire night.
