Need recommendation for bus tour to Tivoli

Hello Fodor Fans,
We'll be in Rome the first part of October and want to go to Tivoli to see Hadrian's Villa and Villa d'Este. Can anyone recommend a bus tour?
Thanks, Jan

We took one from Rome this past May and there are several companies that operate these tours. I'm sorry I do not remember the name of the one we used but if you don't get any spcific recommendations your hotel will have brochures describing the various tours and rates. The company we used picked us up at the hotel and took us to the bus departure point where we paid for the tour. After the bus returned to Rome we were dropped off at our hotel. I suspect most, if not all the companies provide such services, but you might check once there to be certain. regardless of the company I suspect most of the tours are the same..the busses may vary but I doubt that seriously...they all seem to be using the large European-style busses w/air conditioning, etc. I also doubt you'll need to book very far in advance. Hope this helps.

We went on a bus tour we booked through American Express at their office near the Spanish Steps. They picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off on the return at our choice of several central Rome locations (i.e., Colisseum, Navona, Vatican City, etc.)

Our tour guide was good and the bus very comfortable.

Took the Greenline Tours. They took American Express where most companies wanted payment in euros. I wouldn't recommend them though. Could barely understand the "English speaking" guides. Vilia de Este was wonderful.

As a follow-on..the company we used accepted credit cards and did not require cash payments. You might want to check that aspect also before you make a decision.

LOYL - All the main Rome tour companies (Appian, Carrani, Greenline ...) run Tivoli tours. These are usually half day trips - 4 hours (IMO not long enough) costing about €40-50.

But you can do it independantly very easily and cheaply by public transport.

Good afternoon Loyl Have taken the
bus tour to Tivoli thru the concierge in our hotel, the operator was Carrani.
Have also gone to the Amerx Office for
additional Rome Tours. The only deterant is the stop at the cameo factory, but this occurrs on most trips
Sorrento, Capri and etc. Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..
