We stayed here a few years ago; may be booked, also, but worth a try. It's in middle of Bayeux, near the cathedral. Very pretty common rooms; chambres adequate.

Try looking in St. Lo. It is about 20 miles from Bayeux and accessible by train or auto, and is famous for its own battle of July 18, 1944. I have no idea what kind of accommodations they would have there.

The traffic can be pretty bad on the non-restricted roads on June 6 - you might want to try to make sure the evening of June 5, at least, you are somewhat near what you most want to see on that day.

Thanks again. We are going to keep our reservation in Honfleur, looks like a fun little town. We were able to find a half-day afternoon tour of Omaha Beach and American Cemetery with www.overlordtour.com/ on June 5th. We will drive into Bayeux just for day on the 5th as so much will be inaccessible on the 6th.

A few hotels/B&Bs told me they have been booked for these dates up to 3 years ago! Many veterans are returning for the anniversary, plus it seems tour groups, official delegations, etc have already booked pretty much every available room within a reasonable distance. So, we are taking what we can get!
