Need information about Eurail Select Passes
I'll be travelling to Europe in April and would be covering Paris, Switzerland, Amsterdam and London. And I'm thinking of taking the Eurail Select Pass (4-country) which basically covers France, Switzerland, Germany and Benelux. But I have a question here about this Eurail Select Pass.
1. Can I also use this Eurail Select Pass to travel in the country itself such as Switzerland or it's best to get Swiss Pass for Switzerland alone?
2. If I'm taking the 5 days pass, should I used it in such way?
- 1st day: Paris to Bern
- 2rd day: Interlaken to Zurich
- 3rd day: Zurich to Amsterdam (City Night Line)

If the rail pass covers Switzerland, it can be used for train journeys within Switzerland. Some passes include buses, mountain railways and lake steamers, or give a discount on these. You need to look at the small print to see what is included.
If the only journeys you're making are Paris-Bern and Zürich-Amsterdam, it may be cheaper to pay for these separately and get a pass for Switzerland. It depends on how much travelling you do in Switzerland. You would get a discount on the Paris-Bern and Zürich-Amsterdam fares if you have a Swiss pass (because the pass covers the Swiss portions of these journeys). You may get a cheap advance ticket for Paris-Bern or Zürich-Amsterdam.

You will be using a lot of international trains, which require reservations and supplements to be paid. I would look into the costs of buying the tickets separately and compare that carefully to the cost of the pass plus supplement.
If you book your international tickets early you can get them for a very good price.
The Eurail site includes most of the extra fees you pay for a journey if you search.
I don't recommend just reserving a seat on the City Night Line - that would be a very uncomfortable way to spend a night and leave you exhausted for Amsterdam.
You can use the pass within the countries covered by it, but that counts as a day of your pass validity.

Having done a lot of what you are planning to do many times over, I suggest you call Byron at BETS 1-800-441-2387 and allow him to figure out the differences in prices, etc., FOR you.
The man is totally reliable, is not a high-pressure salesman, and you will get the best deal AND the most current information.

Thanks for all the advices. I'm planning to spend 4 days in Switzerland. So basically, I'll be traveling from Paris to Interlaken, then from Interlaken heading to Amsterdam on my last day of trip. If I opt for Swiss Pass, which pass should I take instead? Should I get a 4 days consecutive Pass or 3 days Flexi Pass to travel around Switzerland?
BTW, if there is discount for Paris-Bern/Interlaken and Zurich-Amsterdam, can I book these two rails earlier or I have to purchase in Paris and Zurich by showing them my Swiss Pass in order to get the discount?

You can desing your own Eurail select pass. you can choose from 24 bordering countries. you can travel 5, 6, 8 or 10 days within a 2-month period. The '5 countries Pass' also has a 15 travel days option. If Switzerland come in this area then you can travel.

If you are staying in Interlaken and still want a Swiss Pass, a regional pass might work out for you:

However, be aware that it (or the regular Swiss Pass) just gets you a reduction on the Jungfraujoch (25%):

and a 50% discount on Schilthorn:
