Need help with plane/train info into Italy.
We want to make Bolgna our first stop. We will be flying in from the USA. We are not planning to rent a car. Does it make sense to fly non-stop from the USA into Malpensa and then train it to Bologna? We will then head to Rome where we meet up with friends on the way to the Amalfi Coast. We fly out of Naples to Milan where we then fly home. Is there a better way to do this?

Thanks

Debby

Check carefully if it is more convenient to you to travel between Naples and Milano by airplane or by train. in Naples there is one Eurostar train every two hours to Milano, it takes 6 and a half hours to get to Centrale station, and from Centrale you can take a bus to Malpensa. These trains are very comfortable and cheaper than airplanes. Also, airplanes to Milano often do not land in Malpensa but at Linate or Orio al Serio airports, so if you decide for flying make sure that your airplane lands in Malpensa or that it allows enough time to move from any of the other airports to Malpensa (Orio al Serio is quite a way from Malpensa, and transit time from Linate to Malpensa is at lest one hour, by bus).
