Need help traveling from Liverpool to Bath and Cotswolds

We would like to explore Bath and the Cotswolds on our way to London. We'll need to use public transportation ie train as we prefer not to drive.

Any suggestions would be welcomed. We don't have to be in London until late to check into our hotel.

Liverpool to Bath by train will involve 2 changes and take more than 4 hours.

Liverpool to Moreton-in-Marsh also involves 2 changes and will take 3hrs 42min

Liverpool to Oxford takes around 3 hours, and will involve 1 change.

Realistically, you cannot do this as a day trip en route to London.

Well, maybe I was a bit harsh. I suppose you could go to Bath, getting there around 11-12. Spend a few hours exploring and then get a train to London.

The Cotswolds are more difficult as you really need a car to see them - Moreton-in-Marsh is pretty enough, but it's only a small town, the Cotswolds themselves are the hills and countryside.

If you took a taxi at Moreton and paid the driver to take you around and show you a bit more then yes, it would be doable.

If you're asking how to do this in one day - it's simply not possible by train or any other method. Exploring Bath will take most of a day - as would seeing a couple of Cotswold villages - even by car.

I'm not an expert on the British train system - but it seems like a trip from Liverpool to Bath is not direct - but would have a couple of changes and take the best part of 4 hours.

Leave Liverpool around teatime arriving in bath late and overnight there. Next day you are already in Bath to begin your sightseeing.
