need help traveling by rail

Which rail is best to use traveling from Paris to venice? Do we booked before we leave USA or does it not matter? Does anyone perhaps know the cost round trip?

www.trenitalia.it
Depends on class? sleeper?
Buy it in Paris before that day.
EC trains require reservations that you make as you buy the ticket.

The day trains (change at Milan) leave from Gare de Lyon and cost about 112.5 Euros one way 2d class. The night train leaves from Gare de Bercy and costs 102.7 Euros one way for a 2d-class couchette. Try the French Rail site, www.sncf.com (but it's not easy to navigate).

Hi Lorraine, France as far as I know is one of teh few if not the only country that will sell you a ticket without any surcharge if you call by phone from the US and pay with Visa .
I am not home now but I got the phone number from the French railway www.
They will make all the discounts you might be entitled too. Good luck.
