Definately Tower. Stayed there a few years back and it's almost across the street to enter the Tower of London. Very good central location. Marble Arch location is good too but Tower wins hands down.

The transportation is a little more convenient at Marble Arch - but other than that, the Tower is better hands down. Fab location - almost every room has uninterrupted view of the river and Tower Bridge, next door to the Tower, next door to St Katherines Dock with pubs/restaurants and shops, a block from the pier for river trips, and directly across the river from Butlers Wharf and all the southbank attractions. You would be walking distance from everything from the Tower of London to the Globe Theatre to the OXO tower to the Tate gallery.

Marge,
We stayed at the Thistle as part of a tour package in 1998 and came back by choice last September. It is an excellent hotel and we thought the service and general operation had improved considerably over the years.
As has been stated the location is excellent and we especially like being on the river. It is a fascinating sight and is non-stop entertainment in itself.
