Well to give you an idea - we usually spend about €100 - 135 a night in Paris for 2. You will need a family room so it will be more costly.
Some we like:

This is a little farther out but cheaper - we havent stayed here yet but are in June: http://www.cosmos-hotel-paris.com/

we are aiming to spend 4 days there but do not know where else and which hotel is good and food for kids etc.>
By all means consider taking the train as to places like Titlis you cannot even drive there - ditto for some other primo Alpine resorts like in the Jungfrau Region, which IMO is the very best place in Switzerland for the first-time visitor - and a 4-consecutive-day Swiss Pass would cover virtually all transport from get there to get go - and your kids will always travel free on every conveyance - even thrilling mountain railways like at Titlis with the free Family Pass that comes with a Swiss Pass. For loads of great info on Swiss trains (boats are also covered by the pass as are postal buses and city transports and free entry to over 400 Swiss museums!) - check out these great IMO sites - www.swisstravelsystem.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com; and www.seat61.com.

In Switzerland IME you can pay a lot more for hotels than in Paris if you are talking about Swiss cities like Geneva, Zurich, Lucerne, etc.
But in places like Interlaken or the Jungfrau Region, due to intense demand perhaps there is a much much more available IME range of lower cost hotels - much cheaper ones available than in the cities.
