I have been living in London for two years now and I still am not bored and still have not seen all the sights that I want to before I have to leave!!
The up side of London (versus Paris and Rome) is that it is English speaking which just makes normal London things a tad more accessible. (i.e. chatting to a local in Hyde Park).
A 7 day travel card Zone 1-2 is about £22 pp.
- Go to a show
- It is a big city and travel times can be longer than planned so allow time.
- Highly recommend the hop on off Red Bus to begin. Make sure you get on one iwth a live guide. Perfect when you are jet lagged.
BTW it may be cold by then (it is strangely warm at the moment but could turn nasty at any moment). So bring some warm clothes and a light scarf + umbrella to have with you at all times.
Pls also remember that British Summer Time ends on the 29th October so don't miss your engagement by not knowing this!!! Also I think it is UK school holidays so that may affect your choices. (But I have found that it can be worse here during American school holidays!!)

for cheap[ish] eats and a fun atmosphere, try Chinatown - just north of leicester square. You can eat there before or after a show [likely to be very expensive, I'm afraid]. In general, "ethnic" resturants, with the exception of Japanses ones, tend to be cheaper than British ones. alternatively, the food in most pubs is now quite good, and cheaper than a restaurant.
Have a great time!
