oh, thanks for letting me know. but there IS a place to leave luggage so our plans of "Rome --> Naples --> Pompeii (leave luggage at Pompeii and visit Pompeii) --> Sorrento" is still doable, we would just be bringing our luggage to the ticket office?
I'm assuming many people do this and it is secure and large enough for suitcases? (we will likely have one large roller bag, one carryon sized rollerbag, and one duffle)

Definitely busier than I'd like, but you've certainly given this a lot of careful thought, so go for it! I might just suggest one further tweak, which would be to spend night 2 in Positano, in lieu of spending the night in Sorrento. Not too much further in distance, and one less change of hotels to worry about. You might even consider spring for a taxi or car service from Pompeii to Positano. You're going to be tired after walking around Pompeii (even if you weren't pregnant). Instead of hauling your luggage back on the train to Sorrento, imagine having a driver place it in the trunk of his car, and driving you directly to your hotel. Well worth it, imho. Good luck!

I don't have personal experience leaving luggage at Pompeii, but there have been a number of posts on these boards in the past where people have talked about doing it. Maybe a search will bring up some useful info? (FWIW, I have left luggage at the train station in Naples; it was very secure and we had no issues.)
I believe I remember you mentioning an interest in seeing Sorrento. IMO (which I know others will disagree), it's not really worth going back around the peninsula to visit - so if you're going to go there, where you have it in your itinerary is good. But of course, you could combine it instead with one end or the other of your visit to Capri - and not bother to stay there...
