Need advice on Moscow, fast!

help,
My daughter is transiting to Moscow on her way to Mongolia.. She arrives in Moscow at 2a.m. and has 17 hours before her outbound flight. She has to change airports from DMO to SVO2. I don't know what to"do" with her for about 11 hours. I don't want her wandering about the streets of Moscow at 2 in the morning with a rucksack, etc. Does anyone know if the train stations have a luggage storage??? She has done this frequently in London when she has returned to Uni and is waiting for a train, etc. Any advice would be helpful at this point.

Train stations have a 24 hour luggage storage, stations are well signed. She will need a transit visa. From DMO she can take an express train to Pavelets Station, runs every 2 hours. From 7am to 9pm the airport is linked to Domodedovskaya metro by minibus. Both Paveletskaya and Domodedovskaya are on the Green (#2) Metro Line. To get to SVO my metro take the Green line to the northern end, Rechnoy Vokzal metro station, leave the metro platform by the exit at the front end of the train. Walk about 100 yards straight ahead out of the metro station to the main road, look for the SVO sign and the minibuses. Taxis to and from the airports are expensive.

Thanks for the info. She has her transit visa through blood, sweat, and tears! She left Houston on Wednesday eve. arrived in London and went straight to the Russian consulate...the queue was around the block for the visa. She sat in the line from 9am to 4pm but didn't get in. She overnighted in London and was in the line at 5:30. At 4pm that day she had her visa and was on her way to her destination in Yorkshire. She says she is now a line veteran..of course it was one of the coldest days on record in July for London! I just say it's good to be young!

The only way that she would be able to get into the city with a 2am arrival would be taxi. No use going into the city at that time unless she was going to hotel. May want to consider staying at the airport until about 7 when minibuses should start to run. Take the bus to Domodedovskaya metro station then metro to Belorusskaya Metro Station (Green Line, 12 stops), which is at Belorus Railway Station, check bags, then head back to city, to Teatrainaya Metro Station (Green Line, 3 stops) which will place her near Red Square. She could walk around for a few hours and then head back to get bags and head for airport. All the metro stops would be on Green Line. Metro cost 10Rbl each trip.

That is exactly what she's going to do...stay put in the airport for a while and then head into town. She's a pretty savvy traveller and should do just fine. But you know us mothers...always worrying until she reaches her ultimate destination! At least she's got a quad-band mobile phone that let's her keep in touch wherever she's at in the world. A good thing for those archaeologist types!
