Need a hotel in Florence
We are going on our honeymoon in September and will be staying in Florence for 4 nights. Neither of us have been there before and don't know what a good price is or where we want to be situated. If anyone has any suggestions about hotels with character and are about $150 a night, please respond. Thank you.
-Sonya and Kit

I can personally recommend the Hotel Casci in Florence. It is mentioned in Fodors and we stayed there last March. Huge room, delightful staff (Even gave us a calander of David on our last day) The breakfast room has 16th century frescos on the ceiling! But the best thing about it is the location! Right around the corning from the Duomo and down the street from David. The prices are below your budget as well. If you do a search on Florence Hotels, you should see a lot of references to this hotel, wonderful reviews. I never get tired of recommending it. One thing though the streetside rooms can be noisy if you are a light sleeper but they have double glass windows, someone else suggested requesting a room in the back if you are bothered by noise. Also reserve early! This hotel fills up fast since for value and location it can't be beat. PS Florence is one city that is incredibly easy to navigate on foot. Have a nice trip.

My only Florence hotel experience was the Morandi alla Crocetta (in late May of this year). I highly recommend it! You can read about it in the Fodors guide, "Cheap Sleeeps in Italy," and other guide books. It's on a very narrow (aren't they all?!) out-of-the-way street, yet near everything. A wonderful small hotel in a former 15th century convent. Our room was great, with remants of 15th cent. frescoes on the walls. Perhaps one of the most important things, considering the noise level in Florence, is that it's QUIET. Our room had two large windows which we left open all evening--and I'm very sensitive to lots of noise at night. I'm pretty sure it's in your price range for a double. Don't know about a quad. Buona fortuna!

We recently stayed at the Loggiato Dei Serviti---- it was wonderful- the location is north of the Duomo and around the corner from the academie-- We were able to walk everywhere--the staff was very helpful and friendly-- the rooms were filled with antiques and lovely!!!! Enjoy
Mary

Hello! If you want a place "off the beathen ..." I suggest Hotel Villa Betania, near the Piazzale Michelangelo (that is one of the most beautiful place in Florence). This Villa-Hotel has a good value, nice position (with parking area). web site:www.villabetania.it. Another nice HOtel is Hotel Villa Fiesole, in Fiesole
(which is 15 minutes away from the city-centre. But this is a more bit expensive. Ciao. Steve

We stayed at a funky but romantic hotel in the center call the Monna Lisa - good rates and very individual rooms and a super location. I think there are a LOT of such types of hotels in Florence, and it's such a romantic city, you almost can't go wrong.
