Flamenco in Seville?

I've read in several guide books that Seville is THE place to see Flamenco--any suggestions? Comments welcome. My husband and I will be there in August.

Thanks!

Before we went to Spain last month, several people in this forum suggested Los Gallos in Barrio Santa Cruz. Don't know if it is the best or most authentic, but we went and had a fun evening.

I enjoyed the show at Los Gallos, also. ( Plaza de Santa Cruz 11, Tel: 421 6981)
Many will tell you it's just for tourists and that is true, but the dancers are good and puro flamenco often just occurs in bars without publicized performances. The other spot that has a good reputation is El Arenal, Calle Rodo 7, Tel: 421 6492.

You can also go into any of the dance shops ( I went to Menkes, which I think is on Calle Sierpes) and ask about flamenco clubs. Some of them allow spectators.

Enjoy Seville,
Michele

We also enjoyed Los Gallos last October, and booked only about 2 days ahead from a touristy type shop.
Ate nearby outdoors, also.
Idon't know your budget, but whatever you do, DO NOT stay at the Hotel Dona Maria, which is near the cathederal. It was terrible, and meant to be 4 stars. Bad service, surly staff, dirty rooms, no views, air con broken, pillows like rocks....I don't need to go on!
seville is lovely tho, take a carriage ride at night from the cathedral,
enjoy

My best friend lived in Seville for 6 months, and when I visited, she brought me to the Carboneria/Carboniera. I don't really remember which one of these names is right, but the place is well-known, so you can probably ask a local. It was AMAZING.
