Navigo drcouverte in Paris

I have a question regarding the weekly pass that works Monday - Sunday.

suppose I buy the card for week 1 on a Sunday, I know I can start using it the following Monday. But what about week 2. If I buy week 2 on a Friday, does the card know I’m still using week 1 and to not start using week 2 until the next Monday?

I just don’t understand how different weeks of usage are stored and continuously recognized in the card.

thanks,
CMB

The Navigo Découverte (5€) is just a nontransferable, plastic card and may be loaded with any number of pass options.

One of the options is a weekly pass, valid from any given Monday to the following Sunday. Zone 1-5 coverage costs 22.80€. The pass is sold through Thursday for the current week. Passes purchased and loaded on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday will become usable on the following Monday. It is not possible to load a weekly fare onto a ND card on a Friday and use it during the current week.

If you are currently using a week pass and load your card again on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, you will have continuous coverage until the following Sunday.

Thank you Sarastro...

Just so I'm clear:

1st ND card and pass purchase on Sunday 9/18 (for example) = usage starting Monday 9/12 - midnight 9/18
make another weekly pass purchase on Friday 9/16 = this will not interrupt my current week's usage from 9/12 to 9/18. This pass I've purchased on 9/16 will automatically start on 9/19.

Sorry if I sound dumb...I just need to make sure I'm understand because I'm the coordinator for our entire trip and everyone will blame me for any hiccups or misadventures.
Thank you!

Correct. If it helps, the weekly pass was developed for commuters who travel primarily Monday through Friday. If passes for the week could not be purchased in advance, imagine the mad rush and long lines at kiosk machines Monday morning. To preclude potential Monday morning madness, the RATP spread out the purchase period, allowing any purchase as early as Friday to facilitate uninterrupted service for the Monday morning commute.
