Narrowing down our Paris itinerary

It has been great fun planning our upcoming Paris vacation. My wife checked out Fodor's Paris 2007, Frommer's Paris and a book from Rick Steves on Paris.
So far this is what we have planned.

Arrive in Paris at 10:50am on June 5 I pre-paid for Paris-shuttle to take us to the hotel Hotel Saint Pierre in the 6Th.

Day 1, Walk over to Norte Dame and around the area for awhile. Then find a street vendor for a famous chocolate and banana crepe. Walk over to Luxembourg garden and people watch for awhile, go back to the hotel for a shower and a rest. Find an inexpensive restaurant in the area for dinner then walk around for a little bit. Back to the hotel for the night.

Day 2, Walk down to the Eiffel tower after breakfast. Get tickets and learn how to use the public transportation system. Go to Sacre coeur, cheap lunch, Victor Hugo's house and a Marias Walk. Stop at a Monoprix for wine and snacks then go Back to the hotel for a shower & a drink. Have dinner and a night river cruise. stroll around a bit in the Latin quarter and Retire for the evening.

Day 3, Visit the Louvre in the morning. Have a picnic lunch in the Esplanade at Invalides or the Tuileries. Stroll the Champs Elysee and see the Arc de Triumph, Place de Concord and gallery La Fayette. back to the hotel for a shower and change of clothes. Dinner reservations at Bistrot du Breteuil for 8:30 PM. Stroll the river Seine, back to the hotel.

Day 4, Take a bike tour of Versailles in the morning.
That's as far as we got. This is just a rough draft of our itinerary. Any recommendations at this point is well appreciated.

Except for your day 2 - you seem to have a handle on things and are on the right track. But day 2 is pretty messy - Eiffel Tower to Sacre Coeur to the Marais is all over the place. I personally would group things that are nearer each other.

Thank you for the input. We were jumping around on day 2 because of the metro system (Getting a feel for it)

Getting to Sacre Coeur is sort of a thing unto itself. And that part of Paris for me, can wait until I've seen more of the central part.
I also particularly like the river cruise just as the sun is going down. The lights of Paris start coming on as you are turning around to come back so you see the best of everything.

That doesn't make much sense to me - you can get a feel for the metro w/o building in long extra journeys. Go place that fit together and learning the metro will take care of itself.

Hi L,

You believe in winging it, I see.

Day 1: While you are at Notre Dame, I suggest visiting the Ile St. Louis.

Day 2: It's about a 1 hr walk from your hotel to the ET.

Why not learn how to use the metro by taking it?

See www.ratp.fr for directions.

Enjoy your visit.

We're re-thinking our day 2 plan right now. The morning walk to the Eiffel will fit into our normal morning workout. I figured it was a 30 minute walk but an hour is even better. Ile St. Louis is now part of our first day plan.
