Naples-Pompeii-Palermo
On paper this looks doable but is it? I am healthy 82 year old, well-traveled and would like to fly into Naples (from US) stay there 2-3 days and then onto Pompeii for for another 2-3 days. Then somehow take the Naples-Palermo ferry and hoping against hope to hook up with around Sicily tour before flying home. Obviously I will not be in a rush. I would appreciate comments. Pie in the sky or doable? Thank you

Just one comment..you do not have to necessarily stay in Pompeii; you can visit from Naples. Alternatively, there are hotels in Pompeii if you do decide to spend those nights there...
I think you certainly can do this and hook up with the tour at the end.

Hi Oscarbee,
I hope our kids don't find out either, or they might decide to tag along!!!
Yes, it is doable, but you woulod think about either staying in Naples and visiting Pompeii from there, (and this would put you where you need to be to get the Palermo overnight ferry), or stay in the Sorrento area and visit Pompeii from there, then go to Naples by ferry from Sorrento to catch the overnight ferry to Palermo. The ferry is an adventure, and it's wise to rest a cabin so you can sleep well on the way.
