NAME THIS CASTLE

Can you name this castle in Germany/ I've sent an e-mail to the web site owner with no response, so I figure someone here will know.

St. Cirq - I don't think it's Neuschwanstein - wrong colour!

here's the link for pics of Neuschwanstein:

i had a look at Bill's Bauernhof - I've seen it before - but had to turn it off quickly as the music was so overpowering! Why do they do that?

Hohenzollern is a great looking castle above the town of Hechingen in Baden-Württemberg. Sadly Bill of Bill's Backroads (a member of my Stammtisch group) passed away this year. He wrote some interesting columns for Ben's Bauernhof up to a few years ago - then started developing his own website to assist travelers to Germany. And you are right annhig - loud music on websites is overpowering and can be distracting. I've been eliminating most of the music on my site... Ben

I had never heard of or had seen this castle until my wife bought me "Visions of Germany" on DVD. That's one of those helicopter European tour movies you often see on PBS or playing on huge screen TV's at Best Buy. It looks even more gorgeous in the video. We're hoping to make it there next time we visit Germany.

Very sorry to hear about Bill. I enjoyed his musings.

Yes, Neuschwanstein is almost white if I recall, but I thought it might be the light or time of day and angle. I should have recognized it, though, as I've been to Hohenzollern, though not for many years. Gorgeous place!

The architecture is 19th century, too, but unlike Neuschwanstein this place's history dates back to the 11th century and at least its foundations are late medieval.

Wow! How did I mess this one during all my peregrinations around southern Germany? I will be sure to see it next time I'm in Germany.

Logos, why comment like that?

Thanks for this. After seeing the picture, I had to go to www.bahn.de to see how long it would take to get there from Basel...

Get some info on the castle and the Hohenzollern and you'll notice the real history behind it. It's quite interesting.
Reminds me of Saddams palaces in a way. But at least, this one looks "old"
