Stayed in Volcano View Villas in Santorini, which are built into the hillside with private patios that look onto the caldera formed by the volcano. Beautiful!

the absolutely best hotel to stay in in Santorini is "Perivolas". It is at the end of the island in Oia. The hotel was on the cover of Conde Nast Traveller Magazine about six years ago -- and trust me there is a reason why it was on the cover.

Initimate, small, luxury, and atmosphere to burn.

Esperas nice, too much of a walk, Perivolas has seen better days, is getting tired. Absolut best is Fanari Villas in Ia. Terrific host and cannot beat the villas for vies incl. sunset (cannot see from Perivolas also too much traffic there). Have been to Santorini 6 times so e-mail me with further questions.
Ilona

Cynthia

I stayed at the Loucas Hotel in Fira, Santorini last year and thought it was a nice, reasonably priced hotel. My balcony (shared with another room) had a great view of the sunset over the volcano island. The Loucas hotel is so far down the caldera, that it is quiet.

Martha
