Mykonos hotel- Semeli or Grace?
Hi All,
My husband and I will be in Mykonos in July celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary. We can't decide where to stay. Would love to know if anyone recently has stayed at the above hotels and hear your feedback.
Thanks!

Have not stayed at either of the hotels you mentioned.
This hotel is away from town, but an easy hotel shuttle to town. Besides the hotel pool, there is a very private beach, just below the hotel.
Have fun deciding

P.S. If you consider this hotel, make sure you get a sea view and not a garden view.

I know both hotels but not lodged in them. The place I’ve used for decades is close to the Semeli and I walk past it a few times each day.
The Semeli is in town, located in the quiet Rochari district and is only a four or five minute gentle stroll to restaurants, bars and Fabrica bus station where many buses leave for the beaches. The harbour front and old port is less than ten minutes walk from the hotel. It is known to have a good number of return guests and gets favourable reviews. It does have sea and town view rooms although it is not too elevated compared to some hotels in that area.
The Grace is at Agios Stefanos, which is a good bit out of town. To walk, I think it would be around 45 minutes or so. You will get terrific views from this hotel but I think you need to balance that with the distance you are from Mykonos town. Also, I'd not attempt to make that walk after dark simply because not all of the road has walkways for pedestrians and it can be busy. You will be visiting in July therefore you will without doubt have a very long wait to hire a taxi to/from the hotel although the Grace may have a complimentary car/mini-bus bus service for guests.
I agree with iris1745 about the Grand. It is one of the best on the island and in a superb location to enjoy views of Delos and stunning sunsets.

If i had to choose between Semeli and Grace, i would definitely choose Semeli, which is a different class..
Personally i like the location much better, as it is within walking distance to the town of Mykonos, while walking to Agios Stefanos after dark is something i would never do... ( can be dangerous....)
I don't know how reliable the mini van service of Grace is, but keep in mind that finding a taxi in the high season, can be quite an adventure.... with long queues waiting one of the few taxis of the island.
Myconos Grand is a very nice hotel, in a more "remote" area unlike Semeli and Grace...

Does anyone know anything about the Petasos Beach hotel or Mykonian Ambassador?
The recent reviews of the Semeli hotel haven't been great lately.
Mykonos grand does not have availability.

Both Hotels our nice, with the Myconian Ambassador being more luxurious in my opinion...
I had a nice suite there with a large terrace and a jacuzzi, but i wasn't very much excited about the location.
Two very busy beaches are nearby, Psarou and Platis Gialos...
Psarou is the celebrities beach of Mykonos, prices for beach loungers and sun umbrellas are exorbitant .. and Platis Gialos is a family beach...it gets very crowded in the high season.
Of course you can take the boat from there to some other beaches such as Paranga, Paradise or Super Paradise. ( less crowded)
Petassos Beach is located closer to the beach, some rooms have actually sea view overlooking Platis Gialos.
Personally i am not very fond of Platis Gialos, as it gets too crowded in the high season. It is also a spot from where people take boats to other beaches, which creates an endless coming and going of buses.
I once stayed there in mid May, and the view from the hotel to the beach was unforgettable.... Not a single beach chair or parasol.... the beach was completely empty
I took a quick look at recent comments for the Semeli, at booking.com and didn't see anything significantly negative.. just some points that are to be expected such as busy pool or not enough parking space for cars.. ( which is something to expect on an island like Mykonos, let alone in a hotel so close to the town)
As an alternative to Mykonos Grand, there is the Saint John Hotel located just a few meters further away, it is of the same category, located on the beach of Agios Ioannis ( Saint John). It is build like a small myconian village which emans that if you have one of the lower privileged rooms that are next to the beach, you will have a lot of steps to walk on your way to the reception.
The hotel doesn't get the same reviews as Mykonos Grand, but it is a good hotel for sure.
