Mykonos High End Hotel

Can anyone recommend a high end hotel on Mykonos? Would like to be able to walk to town, unless taxis are easily available late night. Staying at Katikies on Santorini, and looking for something comparable on Mykonos.

I have no personal recommendation, but the ones that seem to get mentioned a lot are the Mykonos Grand, the Petasos Beach hotel, the Belvedere and Cavo Tagoo.

We don't leave for another couple of weeks, but we chose to stay on Katikies on Santorini and the Hotel Belvedere on Mykonos. Will report back after we return!

Thanks, Cherylly and Becca. Becca, I look forward to hearing about your experience. I'm having the hardest time deciding on a room type at Katikies. I'll be interested in your impressions of the various types of rooms.

Our experience was that taxis are very hard to get on the island, especially at night, so if you want to be within walking distance, choose the Belvedere which is in town ( I think) or Cavo Tagoo, which is just outside town.

Yes, the Belvedere is in the Rochari district of town. Only about a seven minute stroll to the harbour front.

In my humble opinion this is one of the best areas in town. It is quiet, but only a short stroll down bougainvillea covered lanes to the shops, clubs and restaurants. Don't miss the little outdoor theatre in Lakka which is off the little lane you will use.

If you are lucky, there may be a local production there of Mykonian singing and dancing. If there is, don't hesitate to join the audience and be prepared to be impressed. This is a different Mykonos to the one usually seen by most visitors.

I stayed at the Kivotos Club hotel a few years back and LOVED IT!!! Small boutique hotel, great service, views. Very private. One of my favorite hotels ever. You will not be disappointed.

Hotel Belvedere is a trendy hotel in the middle of town.
If you want to be away from town I would with the Mykonos Grand.

I agree with Weadles and Bill. The Belvedere is high end and in a great location. Not in the middle of town but only a short stroll to it.

The Grand and St John are very good hotels but not within walking distance of the town, which njtraveler has asked for. I guess from those hotels it would take at least 50 minutes and it wouldn't be a comfortable walk on a hot summer's day.

If the Belvedere is full, try Theoxenia.
