mykonos grand or the saint john
Hi
Ill be spending 6 nights in one of these 2 hotels. Has anybody got a preference? I will be arriving early June and am looking for a quiet luxury beach resort. Im veering more to the grand but am worried about lack of privacy on balconies. A seaview room is within my budget - has anyone got any reccommendations for room numbers with more privacy? Also what are the tavernas like on the beach and are they within walking distance fro these properties? Many thanks Nora

hello Nora
There are two tavernas at Agios Ioannis beach. Maybe 10 minutes slow walk from hotels you ask about.
Walking along from either the Saint John or the Grande the first taverna is called Sunset. It is very traditional Myconian and depending on season has very very good seafoods like sea urchin, all locally caught. This taverna was used in the movie Shirley Valentine and has not changed.
The second, only a small part from Sunset is Manoulas Taverna. It is new, maybe 2 years old. I have not eaten at Manoulas as my family prefer Sunset since I was a child.
Both have very good sea views to enjoy with your meal.
There is a restaurant at the top of the road that begins between both of the tavernas. It has been operating maybe 2 years. I hear some people say it is expensive but I have not eaten there so do noit know if this is true.
I cannot say anything about the hotels as I never have been a guest.
thanos
