My Topic Title Edinburgh to Heathrow BA flight on Monday Question?
We have a BA flight from Edinburgh to London morning and then catch an Air New Zealand flight to LA later that afternoon. We are thinking we should bag the BA flight and possibly catch an early train to Heathrow from Edinburgh on Monday morning. Do you think that's a good idea? Thanks.

Are they on the same ticket? If not I think it would probably be a good idea to get the train if you can. No guarantee BA will be anywhere near back to normal by Monday.
If they are a single ticket skipping one leg will almost certainly invalidate the other.
You've certainly had the best weather for Scotland!

There is no train from Edinburgh to LHR. It would require you taking the train to Kings Cross. Then either the tube or a taxi to Paddington and a train to LHR OR the tube from Kings Cross to LHR.
I'd maybe consider the sleeper train that arrives early AM at Euston Station . . .
But it being the Bank Holiday there may not be any seats available on any trains. Why not check for availability then decide.

OR -- if no train seats are available you could rent a car Sunday afternoon and drive down and stay the night at LHR. It would be a long drive but there are long daylight hours so doable.
All this is assumes the flights are on separate bookings and you aren't protected.

Yes. Flights not protected. We have booked an early morning train to Kings Cross. With tube connection we will get to airport in plenty of time. Thanks Janis for info on tube. Better safe than sorry. Couldn't bank on BA getting act together. Also a chance for one last sticky toffee pudding. Thanks all.

No help, Tom, just commiseration. Hope it all works out. My roommate and a friend and I stayed with a widow in Edinburgh--she made us come in at a certain time, and let us know when we could use the tub!
I loved Edinburgh as well.
Again, good luck coming home.

We did the Virgin train last week from Edinburgh to Bury St Edmunds and loved it. We bought last minute tickets and it was not expensive. We changed in Peterborough but it does go on to Kings Cross.
