When are you traveling?
If the weather is nice, there are a lot of beer gardens - The English Garden has a nice place called SeeGarten.
Hofbrauhaus - go in and take a look and go down the street for your beer & food.
Spatenhaus was typically German - great food.
Augustiner Keller Beer Garden near the main train station was a great place for beer & food.
So much to do, so much to see, so little time.

I think a lot of it depends on what you like. The Bavarian State Opera is first rate these days with excellent casts and name conductors, e.g. Zubin Mehta.
On the other hand, if that is not your treat, then it matters not.
If you like art, Der Alte Pinokothek is full of paintings by the famous masters.
The modern one is somewhat of a joke to me. There was one piece of modern sculpture made out of car bumpers.
I kid you not; that is all it was: Welded car bumpers and perhaps a piece of a fender. The "artist - creator" at least has a sense of humor: He named it Horse Pucky. No joke; that is the name of it.
If you like history, the Residenz in the downtown area was faithfully restored. It gives a real good look at the excesses of royalty. Another such place is Nymphenburg on the west side of town.
And out of town on opposite sides of the city are the Ludwig-built castles of Herrenchiemsee and Neuschwanstein.
The once famous Deutsches Museum was something of a disappointment in some respects. Nothing from the last 15 or so years is there. The basement of the museum is a detailed feature on mining.
If you are interested in that subject, the replica of a deep mine is incredible.
Also some of the aircraft on display are from the WW II era and very interesting.
There are some items of interest from chemistry, metallurgy, and engineering as well.
The Viktualien Markt is fascinating, if you like food of all sorts.
And in warmer times, the Englische Garten is a lovely place for a stroll.
And in hot weather, it can be something of a show place with all the sun bathers.
I have fun just wandering around looking at the Italian dessert places along Leopoldstrasse. After scouting out the territory for 40 minutes or so we finally decided where we wanted to indulge. Yummy, even though I am not sure if Lipitor would bust the fat.

In the evening for fun sit on the outside terrace at the Hofbrauhaus. Eat somewhere else...we liked the Hunds Kugel a few block off the Marienplatz.
I found Dachau, just outside of Munich, interesting.
In Munich walk to the very top of the Frauenkirche.
Get ice-cream in the garden near the opera house.
Rick Steves book gives a good loop to see Neuschwanstein, Hohenschwangau, Weiskirche, and Linderhof.
Go a little further east to see Ludwig's other castle at Chiemsee.
Go north to Rothenburg...best if you can spend the night inside the wall and do the Nightwatchman tour.
