Marks and Spencer Tea

Just love the M&S Extra Strong Tea bags but living in Italy means its hard to get unless somebody goes visiting London from here. Any suggestions on either substitutes or means of supply? (I was so impressed by the Fortnum and Mason Christmas Tea Crisis response I thought I'd give it a try.)

Hi LJ,

O.K. - I'll swop you M&S teabags for a panforte

It's a shame you didn't post this 2 weeks ago (- I could have brought you some ...)

Anyway I'd be happy to post you some if that helps.

Steve, how very kind of you...a similar posting on another (not nearly so good, of course) web forum has suggested an online tea supplier...apparently the people who "make" the tea for M&S also do small orders. If that pans out, I will be all set. If not, I may just take you up on that kind offer and will happily exchange any amount of Italian dolci. Thanks and Happy New Year!

LJ - Just a thought. Can't you get Twinings tea over there?

I've never tried M&S, but I'm sure Twinings would be a good substitute.

Try 'Twinings English Breakfast' - that's quite strong.

I believe I have seen Twinings here, I'll give it a try: I hadn't thought of that as an alternative, never having had to do without my beloved Marks and Sparks before-I guess that makes me an addict to both Fodors and M&S...thanks again

Hi LJ,
I have a box in my cupboard as we speak Fortunately we have Woolworths (NOT the British one), ours has some sort of connection with M&S and the stores here look just like M&S and stock lots of M&S goods, yeah right down here in darkest africa
shhhhh.... don't tell a soul but half my family work for them, so we get discount!!!
Anyway, I will be in London at the end of March and in Italy in April, so if you like I can bring as much as I can carry. Mail me if you like.

I will be responding off line to those who offered to assist, but just wanted to say thanks and am bowled over (as usual) by the kindness and camaraderie of Fodorites!
