Music in Paris

Going to Paris in two weeks and have most of trip planned. Would like to see some type of musical performance, either a small club jazz show or a performance in a historic church. Please advise as to any experience you have had in selecting a show and how you got tickets.

Merci!

I went to Ste-Chapelle and bought tickets at the door. Also a concert at St-Sulpice (free, no tickets needed).

There are lots of churches that offer concerts.

Why only "historic churches" and what is your criteria for these historic churches?

Ditto Sainte-Chapelle - I went to a performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and loved it.

For jazz clubs, consider this one in the Bastille area: Atelier Charonne, 21 r.d. Charonne at Passage Thiere.

They specialize in jazz manouche, or gypsy jazz, and have live music nightly plus jam sessions.

Raltsonian, Wow! Vivaldi at Ste Chappelle is just what we were looking for as well. We're staying on the Isle Saint Louis, so will be very close by.

Do you know if the concerts sell out? We're interested in May 6 or 8. I hate to buy online right now as we're not sure what our agenda is either day. I had tried to find out about these concerts awhile back, but either was too early or just didn't see this site.

Prefer to buy on the day, but will get online if needed. Thanks.

New World jazz club in the 10th might be the most famous in Paris. Worth checking out who is appearing when you are there.

As a follow up, New World might not qualify as a small club, but it is worth looking into.
