Museum Pass Paris

Does anyone knows if the Museum pass includes all of Versaille?
Thanks

It includes the unguided tours, the Petit Trianon and the Grand Trianon. Guided tours and the gardens are extra (if the fountains are on).

The Grand Chambers (senior moment, I think that is what Louis' bedrooms were called) were in addition to the pass.

Its "Les Grands Apartements" and "Les Petits Apartements". Les Grands Apartements are what most people do and are included for sure. So you must be refering to Les Petits Apartements.

Believe me, the museum pass includes enough of Versailles to keep you occupied for the entire day!

The Garden is open every day except in bad weather or when official ceremonies are held. Admission will be charged from April 1 to October 31. The Chateau of Versailles is closed on Mondays.

I've been told the fountains are only on Sunday afternoons, but I can't find the information on my Versailles brochure. They certainly weren't on Thursday afternoon in mid November!

When you get to Versailles, go to the information office. The ladies there are very nice, speak excellent English and will give you brochures and explain what you can and cannot enter with the museum pass. You can also pay extra if you want to do the other things. You'd have to anyway so you're not losing any money.

We were wiped out just doing everything allowable with the pass. It took us all day. That was the day we walked 12 miles! Good for the cholesterol and my shoe repairman loved it.

Have a great trip.

Of the 7 attractions listed below, one is free, 2 of them (the state apartment and trianons) are included in the pass while 4 others require additional fee.

Thanks to everyone for your help. Last question. When and where should I get the pass?

Thanks again
Juan

Juan, You can get the Museum Pass at any Metro station. When you get your Metro ticket, pass or carnet, just ask for a museum pass too. You can get the museum pass at any museum, but if you do that, you may end up standing in line for quite a while. It's faster to get it at the Metro station.

Enjoy your trip.

The Musee pass is great!! The line to get into the D'Orsay Museum at 1000 was backed up three blocks two weeks ago. I would hate to see the crowds in the summer. I just walked to the front, showed the guard my pass and I was let in the door.

Obijuan,
I don't know if you found the answers you were looking for, but I just came across the brochure that came with my museum pass. At Versailles, there is an additional charge for the King's Chamber and Lecture Tour (Gates C & D), and for the access to the gardens from April 1 to October 31. We happened to pick ours up at the Arc de Triomphe because we were there! (If you go to the Arc, I lost a black glove...)

I take it a 3-day museum pass is for 3 consecutive days. We will be in Paris from Mon-Sat. and I've scheduled a day trip to Normandy on Wed. So if the museum pass is consecutive days I better change the Normandy trip to Tues. or Friday. I've heard conflicting reports for 18 yr. old students for the pass. We are traveling with an 18 & 15 yr. old students and not sure if our 18 yr.old can get in free to some museums or we need to get him a pass. Anyone with a positive answer would help.

Reading from the pass brochure: "Most museums: offer free admission to children under 18 years of age, reduced admission to young adults between 18 and 25 years of age; and generally close on Mondays or Tuesdays and on Jan 1 and May 1."

Some are free on certain Sundays.

Perhaps you should take your day trip early in the week?

Thanks Allison, I changed their D-Day tour to Tues. instead of Wed. and that works better anyway since alot of museums are closed on Tuesdays. I'm soaking all this info in like a sponge and we only have 10 days till we leave! Now if only I could find my plug-in converter!!

Hello - Another question on the pass: when I went to Paris 5 years ago I seem to remember needing a little photo for one of the passes? Does that ring a bell? Which Metro stations sell the Metro pass and the Museum Pass? Thanks

katorric, while I've never been to Paris (going in May) I think you are confusing the museum pass with the metro pass (carte orange) perhaps? That metro pass is supposedly far superior to the carnets of tickets or the vistitor pass they try to steer you toward and does require a photo.

Yep, no photo needed for the museum pass. I'm not sure which metro stations sell them, but you can get them at all of the museums - I mentioned somewhere that we happened to be at the Arc de Triomphe early one day, not many other people were there, so we bought our passes and went on in. The gentleman who looked at our brand new passes put in the day's date. but we never ended up putting in our names, and no one ever questioned us.

You can buy carnets of 10 tickets for the Metro. The carte orange runs for a week starting on Monday and is unlimited. Since we arrived on Wednesday, the carnet made more sense for us.

I'm ready to go back, and I just came back two weeks ago!

Let me put my 2 cents in discusiion . Althout it's not aobut musse pass however to anyne who goes to Paris and planning to take open bus tour: If you bying bus ticket at 4pm it's good untill 6pm same day and all next day and you pay only for one day. ANother words you 'll get 2 hours (1 tour)for free. I got it by accident just because came at 4 pm to buy ticket for the next day and lovely young lady told me about this "trick"
