Musee d'Orsay short film (1:40)

This is an excerpt from my Europe 2006 video. It is less than 2 minutes long. This is the first film I have submitted to Vimeo and I wanted to keep it simple. It is a gentle meditative piece.

I hope you enjoy it.

Mike, very nice! I really enjoyed that. It made me want to start my own projects on that site. I did in fact join. What music did you use?

Nicely done, Mike. Just wondering - did you send a check to the singer, composer, and musicians? If not, how would you feel if you did video for a living and someone took your video footage and used it elsewhere?

DalaiLlama - You are correct. I have no defense. I need to get out my images and I am not making money at this. I would never take money for something someone else did.

Your analogy is good. I would be upset if one of my videos was used for profit and I was left out of the loop. I would be happy to hear the video was used for non-profit enjoyment, however.

On Youtube such uses of music are allowed; but when challenged a message is sent that the video may be stopped in certain countries and that the music company pretty much owns the rights to the video. As it should be.

I have sat out posting videos for a couple of years because I felt as you do that each person deserves his due.

I imagine when someone is moved by a piece of music on some obscure video they have become a potential customer for that music.

I am working on music presently (Finale Allegro) and I hope to someday dispense with using copywritten material. It is inevitable.

I am going to continue to do my work because I need the rhythm of music to help me. (of course )

I'm sorry we are at odds.

Mike

LOVED it! Thanks for sharing. I wandered through those halls in '05. I long to return.

Thanks Maggi!
I posted a response to you on the other site as well.
The music is Salve Regina from the State Of Grace III CD. Rebecca Luker has a great voice.

I use Ulead's VS 11.5+ (now Corel's Pro X2) I prefer the Ulead software. Pro X2 had rendering problems for me.
Try b4 buying possible.

Good luck on the site!

Mike, I admire your frank reply. Don't get me wrong, I'm no saint, either, I have abused a xerox machine when copyright, strictly interpreted, would have forbidden it.

May I suggest that you tag your work with not only the full musical credit but with a reference to the record label or CD catalog number, so that even a lazy viewer/listener who would not bother to research it is more easily compelled to maybe, just maybe, order that CD?

Just a thought.

Mike, your posting led me to listen to the album on Amazon. I like it! And I wouldn't have heard it if it weren't for you putting it with your video. Thanks.

DalaiLlama - Good thought. I am adding information as you suggest to my videos. I will probably add the CD#, however I buy music very quickly on the internet with just a cursory search.
I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Thanks cigalechanta. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

That's great Maggi.

Beautifully edited. I love the fade in to the various female paintings and statues

Thank you avalon.
The girl looking at the mirror-like painting made me think of the stages of "woman".

Thanks for watching.
