I was in Muerren in December. I used their tourist information website to find my hotel. The information was reliable and accurate. I also e-mailed the tourist information office and they were very helpful. We stayed at the Eiger Guesthouse - for two reasons, one of the most reasonable in price, and one of the few that were open when we were there.
The couple that run the place, Veronique and Allan (she is Swiss, he is Scottish) are delightful. The guesthouse is located very close to the train station. If I were to return there, I would definately stay there again.
You can find the tourist information site by searching on Muerren. If you can't find it e-mail me and I will locate it for you.

Here is a web address that will give you a little info on the hotel:
http://www.muerren.ch/overview.htm
I am assuming that you know where it is and how to get there.
Most of those 3-star hotels are so competitive that you are almost bound to get a good room.
From many places in Murren, the giants of the Berner Oberland are in full view. On a clear day, they glisten in the sun, almost inviting you to get closer. If you are into hiking, there is one classic walk up to the Sefinenfurke - or the Sefinen Pass - that leads on to Kandersteg and other places on the other side of the ridge. The trail from Gimmelwald to the Kilchbalm is interesting. You follow the trail through rough pastures to a cirque that ends dramatically against the sheer cliffs. Ice, snow, water, pasture, and cows are in abundance. Fascinating place. It is a fairly level walk as Swiss mountain trails go.
Another unique place to visit is Zinal. We stayed in a 2-star hotel in Zinal -- Hotel du Trift.
It was fine, in fact, something of a unique experience. Zinal is a very pleasent and secluded place where the cares of the outside world seem to get lost. It is quite accessible by car from Sion. If you can make it down there, the scenery, particularly around the Barrage de Moiry and the upper end of Lac de Moiry over the Moiry Glacier is fascinating. The location is beautiful. But Murren has the views!!

You'll find our recommendations for hotels in Muerren at www.twenj.com/swisshtlbo.htm
Jungfrau is one of many *** hotels. I'd recommend the Alpenruh as being a bit better if the price fits. The ** Alpina is an excellent buy ... you give up nothing in the way of views and little if anything in the way of comfort.
The Eiger Guesthouse is an excellent buy.
If you're going after Sep. 17 most hotels will be closed with the exception of the Alpina. Many 'chalets' and apartments available, though. (Our favorite is the Chalet Fontana.)
Info on the town and others in the area at www.twenj.com//bovisit.htm ... things to do in the area at www.twenj.com/boactivity.thm
Muerren's an excellent choice ... by far our favorite.
