Munich tour guide?

Can anyone recommend a private driver/ tour guide in the Munich area that could take a family of 12 around on an 8- or 9-day special custom tour in Bavaria next summer? We would set the agenda; they would make the arrangements for transportation and housing.

Thank you Rex, but I'm looking for someone who lives in the Munich area! Preferably an established tour agency.

Help! No one has answered and my query is already funneled into 2nd tier. Any suggestions?

Probably you need to make arrangements with a German travel agency if you want to work with someone local. Try the Munich tourist office for recommendations.

Montana,

Last night I was flipping through Rick Steves' most recent guide to Germany, Switzerland & Austria, and his Munich chapter recommends a few city guides. While I can't speak to their availability and/or knowledge of Bavaria beyond Munich, one of the following individuals may very well be just what you're looking for, as they all helped Steves with the information presented in his chapter on Munich:

Renate Suerbaum - tel. 089/283-374 (one digit appears to be missing; perhaps you could "Google" her.)

Monika Hank - 089/311-4819

Georg Reichlmayr - 08131/86800, [email protected]

Best of luck.

Thanks, David. That gives me something solid to go on. I'll try those leads, although my Google search for Renate did not produce any results.

Montana,

It's regrettable that you struck out concerning Renate, but don't throw in the towel just yet. You might want to contact Georg. He was featured in R. Steves' latest program on Munich and Bavaria, and he struck me as a personable, well informed (and English-speaking) expert on Munich's history.
