Munich to Mittenwald Germany - Train or bus? Munich to Mittenwald
Hi,
I will be traveling from Munich to Mittenwald for 3-days of hiking. I'll just have a light backpack with me. Wondering whether to take the train or the bus? The bus is direct and a shorter duration time but If the train is scenic I'm willing to make the 2 transfers. Please advise. Thanks! Janet

Bus is cheaper and faster,. Options about every 2hrs all day long
Train requires 1 transfer in GP.
You are going TO the scenic Alps for 3 days of hiking - the ride there is not the prize. I see no reason to take the train over the bus.

Some may complain that my recommendation is not very ecological but I think you should rent a car. This allows you to see the most beautiful places of this area. Public transport is only available to a very limited extend there. Some wonderful destinations are just about 1 hour or less away from Mittenwald if you go by car: Innsbruck, the capital city of the Austrian state of Tyrolia and many scenic places which are ideal for hiking. Just go to Google maps and look at the following pictures: Linderhof, Plansee, Leutasch-Klamm, AlpspiX, Seebensee, Koenigshaus am Schachen, Eibsee ( or less crowded Pflegersee) and Ferchensee.
