Munich Tierpark-Hellabrunn (Zoo)-- Anyone Been?

I'm not generally a huge fan of zoos because I'm partial to being able to interact with animals rather than just looking at them. However, the zoo in Munich looks kind of cool, and I'm wondering if anyone has been and can comment.

I pulled this excerpt from the website: "The zoo is divided into continents according to the Geo-zoo concept which results in 15 park areas in an area of 36 hectares." I like the idea of how the zoo is set-up, and since I've been to Munich before and seen quite a bit of it, I thought this might be a fun way to spend a day of my trip, providing I can detach myself from the biergartens.

If anyone has been and has any feedback, I'd appreciate it!

A copy of San Diego Zoo. At the time it was quite modern.
Interesting for kids, but not really for adults.
Better stay at the Isarauen and have a beer or visit the Bavaria movie studios at Geiselgasteig which are close.

Adults we might be, but we really enjoyed the zoo.

We enjoy zoos and visited the Munich Tierpark-Hellaburn 2 years ago. It was the least engaging of the numerous zoos we've enjoyed throughout Europe and America: logos999 is probably correct that it's aimed primarily at kids (no reason it shouldn't be, of course).

Bear in mind, the zoo is easily accessible via U-Bahn so it's not like you'd be going out of your way to check it out for 2 hours.
