Munich Hotel recommendatios: $200 price range
My family will be staying a single night in Munich on June 3rd, prior to driving through Austria into Hungary. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel that we might be able to get for $200 or less per night? The room should sleep two and it would be better if the beds were separate (mother & daughter; father & son).

I really did enjoy the Dorint Sofitel Bayerpost right by central station. A design oriented place with a magnificent spa area. The rooms were a bit dark, but maybe that was due to winter weather.
Across the street there is a rather nice Le Meridien. Very nice rooms and a modern classic style. The pool and spa cannot compete with the Dorint, though, IMHO.
I have also recently stayed at the Sheraton Grand which I'd avoid like the plague the next time due to its off location, lack of work capacities in the room and even though it has been meticulously renovated just remains a concrete seventies monstrosity from my point of view.

I took 6 family members to Munich at Christmas this past year. Bidding on Priceline.com I was able to get magnificent rooms at the Derag Prinzessin Elisabeth Hotel for less than $60 per night. Normally the rooms are in the $175 a night range if you book directly. The hotel is in a very quiet section of town but just a block from a bus stop. From there you can easily get to the Marienplatz, Hofbrauhaus, museums, or Hauptbahnhof. It's more luxurious than where we normally stay, but the price was hard to beat. The rooms are modern, comfortable and have seperate beds. You will find the breakfast buffet will be the best you'll have your entire trip - trust me. They have everything and it's included in the price of the room. You can read more at:

I would recommend the Platzl. We stayed there for 2 nights around Christmas. The rooms were $200 (or so) a night plus a wonderful breakfast (the best I've had in a while - all the usual plus bacon, waffles, eggs, champagne.....).
The location of the Platzl is spectacular - right in the heart of the city. That being said - I don't know about parking.
We had 2 rooms, but they had double or queen beds (kids in one, us in the other). But I'm sure you could ask for twin beds if you wanted.
