Check the Platzl Hotel near the Hoffbreu Haus. We like to stay near the train station and it is very convenient to the pedestrian zone (4-5 blocks from Marienplaz. If you try priceline you will end up at Le Meredian. Other hotels in your price range are the Drei Lowen and Drei Lowen Residence. Some a little below your $200 are the Deutsches Theater, and the Elephant. 5-6 blocks futher away but a nice hotel is the Uhland Hotel. It is right next to the Oktoberfest grounds.
You may want to look at OctopusTravel.com. They show some pictures of the hotels and give you a price quote in $ that includes all taxes.

We stayed at the Advokat Hotel (http://www.hotel-advokat.de/) last July and were pleased with it. No-nonsense rooms with a great breakfast and within walking distance of everything - the Marientplatz, train station, Deutsches Museum, etc.

We stayed at the Platz a number of years ago and liked it for its "charm and character". But last year when I checked with them, their prices seemed to have gone sky high and I did some checking. We ended up doing a room at the beautiful LeMeridien practically across from the train station. OK, no old charm or character, but one of the largest and most beautiful rooms I've ever had in Europe right down to the huge plasma TV. The cost? An internet special of $129 or so US dollars. It was superb.
