Multiple city itinerary airfare?

Are there any particular airfares I should research for a two week holiday with stops in Amalfi/Southern Spain/ Greek Islands? I hate tours and want to organize it myself and get an airfare where I can combine cities for one price.....

Thanks,
Lisa

I've found that flying "open-jaw"...into one city and out of another...saves considerable money. Think about the logical itinerary for your trip, and then check out various city pairs for flights.

Good luck.
Lisa,do yo belong to AAA? I always use them to give me an idea as to price and then I do my own research.Last summer,I had a great deal on a round trip to Paris. Then I did my own booking to Rome and Madrid, back to Florence and to Paris on Alitalia and got a fabulous deal.My logic is to get myself over to Europe,as cheaply as possible. Then figure out where else I want to go the furthest and then route yourself back to where you first arrived.Hope that makes sense. The open jaw was way too expensive for me.

Most of the cheap intra-Europe carriers don't allow booking through the big online services like Expedia et al; you might look at europebyair.com to see if anything there works with your itinerary.

Alternatively, both big airline alliances, OneWorld and Star, offer similar "discover Europe" pre-paid flights programs, provided you're not a European resident and that you fly to Europe on one of the member airlines. These "coupons" permit relatively inexpensive travel within Europe. See http://www.oneworld.com/products/visit_europe.cfm or http://star-alliance.com

Lisa and Natco,

You might want to just check the open jaw route. I just booked a trip to Florence and Venice and saved myself $200 by flying into Florence and out of of Venice, instead of having to back track to Florence again. I figured it would be more expensive, too, but it actually came out cheaper.
i have just a few thoughts. First, your three stops are located poorly for easy travel to and from each other and will require the extra loss of two days vacation time to acomplish the holday. You also lose two days coming and going to New York. Your vacation will be cheaper and more convenient with two general areas of holiday for two weeks.
Having said all that you can do the airfares a couple of different ways. First you can fly to Europe by Lufthansa or some other large carrier that has $100 vouchers for travel within Europe. This way for example you could fly JFK to FRA, change planes for NAP for Amalfi. (Open jaw return from ATH to JFK
via FRA) You would than fly NAP to FRA, change planes for AGP for Spain. Continue your trip with AGP to FRA, change planes to ATH. In Athens you will have to change carriers to fly to whatever Greek Island you want to go to.
Return from the Island to Athens for the return open jaw to JFK via FRA. Cost of the airfare would be rountrip NYC to Naples and return from Athens (cost highly dependent on season of travel, from your destinations I would guess summer) plus $400 for vouchers for travel between Italy, Spain and Greece, plus cost of airfare between Athens and a island, at least another $200. My wild guess for airfare cost would be less than $2000 coach.
As an alternate you could try getting an inexpensive rountrip flight to/from London and try some of the inexpensive airlines like easyjet or ryanair to help you get where you want to go. Europebyair may also have flights to help you. There used to be a website called aerfares that ran schedules for about 10 different low fare airlines in Europe but the site is now down. The basic problem is I doubt there are direct flights between Naples and Malaga/Seville and Malaga/Seville to your Island destination in Greece. There may be easier flights with Alitalia as your choice of carrier from NYC. Good luck.
