If you want to know what "ttt" and "tt" mean, I shall be very happy to help. I asked this very question about two months ago, and a month ago someone else asked it, and now you! It was driving me nuts because I couldn't figure it out and the Fodors directions about using this forum weren't very clear, either.

So here it is: it means "to the top" and it brings the post to the top LEFT hand column on the screen, where the list of questions are. They're all numbered. At 8:44 this evening you were at Post #1. Two minutes later, we'll say, someone asks a question about how do I catch the train to Naples. That pushes your post down the column. If no one answers your post, then all subsequent posts take presedence, and before you know it, you're at #50.

Now that's almost on the wrong side of the tracks. As soon as someone asks what the weather is like in Paris, you're entirely off the screen! Your question might not even be found unless someone with diligence and no date on a Saturday night clicks on "Next 50 messages."

Someone very considerate might take pity on you and type in "ttt." Just by the mere action of answering your post with three bitty letters, your post has zoomed from limbo to #1!!!

And then, at last, maybe someone will answer your question.

dln,

I have to say I like the way you went through that, and I already knew what ttt was!

I bet you'd be a pretty good host of one of those "how things work" type of shows. This is coming from me though, a techie, whose only answer to anything is "did you reboot it?" But I was impressed by your explanation.

Yes, I agree with all those other posters. You must be a lovely person to explain so thoroughly, and with examples, what ttt means.

I feel as if I have come in from a wasteland.

Two things to add: Not all message boards have this feature & there's nothing magical about "ttt", if you add anything at all to a thread, it sends it back up to #1 position (for a moment or two)!

Best wishes,
