Moulin Rouge

HI

I am going to Paris with my wife in February and she really wants to go to the Moulin Rouge. What can people tell me about it? Is it a tourist trap? Should we do dinner and the show or show only? If we do show only, will we get bad seats? Are there bad seats?

Thanks for any help.

Asked and answered, many times over. If you text search "moulin rouge" you'll get lots of threads on the subject, with suggestions of alternative shows.

The consensus is that yes, it's a tourist trap, but some go anyway. Most think you should skip dinner if you do so.

My wife dragged me there, too. What a waste of money. It was our one and only trip to Paris, and when I think of what we could have done and spent our money on that night, it still bugs me - 7 years later.

If you go there only to put the "check" in the box, then do it but forget the dinner. Have dinner somewhere else and go to the later show.

Try not to get a seat too close to the stage -- up close, the girls are ugly and caked with makeup.

Hi Jerry:
We just returned spending holidays in Paris. My husband and brother went to see Moulin Rouge with dinner .The brochure rate was I believe cost about $120.00, if you want the show only it would cost you $80.00. I have seen Lido that's why I did not go. They said the steak dinner was a so so - if you want the show only, please reserve in advance or have the hotel concierge help you arrange it. The dinner show starts at 7pm and the show itself at 9pm. The people at their table were all satisfied after the show. I don't think you would get a bad seat considering the size of the theatre compared to the mega theatre in Las Vegas. My husband said that even if you are seating at a different angle you get a good view of the stage.
Go for it!
