More RENFE question - please help

After several attemps in 2 days, I wasn't able to purchase the "Web" tickets from RENFE even it shows there are tickets available. After I filled out all the necessary information and making credit card payment, each time I received a message "The process cannot continue right now. We apologise for any inconveniences (GOO1-CA01)". What does the code (G001-CA01) mean? The full fare from Madrid to Cordoba is 50€, Web fare is 20€ and Estrell fare is 30€ for the date and time I want to travel. The same happened when I tried to purchase the Estrella fare.

I did use my U.S. address and passport #. Should I use other Type of Document? If that is the case, what type?

How do I get it to work? Really appreicate your help.

Thanks.

Could it be your credit card company blocking the charges?

If all else fails, I understand you can call Renfe and purchase Estrella tickets over the phone (but not Web tickets).

I'd call you credit card company to make sure they're not blocking. They'll know if they denied the previous transactions and are the source of your issue. I remember also experiencing issues during what would be early morning hours in Spain (1 a.m or so). It oculd be they shut down their server for a nightly refresh at a particular time every night.

Good advice above.

What kind of credit card are you using? American Express does not work, unless things have changed recently.

I tried both VISA and M/C on different times of the day/night. I even tried with the debit card. My credit card company has been notified before I attempted to make any purchases. I will give it a few more days.

Thanks for your responses.

Third day is a charm! I finally received my tickets printed 10 minutes ago.

The date and time I wanted was sold out. Did not appear on the web. I moved it to the next day and got the WEB fare for 25.55€ in stead of 20.00€.

I even sent RENFE an email to "Venta de Billetes por Internet" and asked for instruction. But they never response.

Finally RENFE emailed me a nice explanation why I couldn’t purchase the tickets. Below is the entire email I received from
Venta Internet" <[email protected]>

My take is that once they sold out their limited numbers of tickets, but they did not remove it from the program until many days later. I just hit on the day(s) before they removed it. If you know your exact travel date, buy your tickets as early as possible to obtain the lower fare while they are still available!

"Dear client:

We are contacting you regarding the email you sent us.

We checked the trip Madrid-Cordoba for (date deleted) and we see that the train is not available for sale.

We don’t know if in the moment that you tried to make the purchase, the train was available for sale. Right now you can not buy this train.

Besides you have to know that the promo fares are limited.

Normally the information about the trains is available 62 days in advance for high velocity, long distance trains and regional trains.

However, there are occasions where changes in the services make the schedule unavailable on pre-specified dates.

Because of these changes there is a possibility that the website will not show any available trains for the dates which the changes are being made.

This does not mean that there are no trains on these dates, it only means that we are not currently aware if the trains will be available.

If you want, you can try to get information about this train at + 34 902 24 02 02 (General Information).
Kind regards.
