more questions. just getting started, need help.
from these (great help) postings i see that it will be preferable to not have a car in the dubrovnik to split area. i am concerned about luggage and ferries as we change to different places to overnight. (i.e. from dubrovnik to hvar). do we keep luggage with us on the ferries? is the process fairly easy? also, does anyone know an internet sight that will give eastern europe drive times or distances?

I can't help you at all with Dubrovnik or Split, but you'll have an easier time catching the eyes of those who do know, if you repost a question with those places in the title.

We just returned from a great trip to Croatia. We really enjoyed Split (we like Roman sites). We took the caterman to Hvar. We have roller bags and my husband can carry both our large bags (a real plus for me) so getting on and off boat was not a problem. there's space on the boat to put your luggage. In Hvar you can catch a taxi near the boat area. We loved Hvar and would highley recommend a private apartment of Petricic: www.island-hvar.net/petricic/. gorgeous views from balcony. Let me know if you have any other questions.
