Montmartre or Blvd Picpus?

I have the option of staying in an apt. on rue Custine in the 18th or a hotel on Picpus. Which is a safer area and better located? I have 7 in my party so we are limited as to where to stay.

I'd choose PicPus. I like that area.

I like Picpus, too -- but it would be good to know a little more closely where you are talking about. The area near Place de la Nation is one that I like a lot.

The hotel is the Lux on Picpus blvd. and the apt. is 44 Rue Custine in Montmartre. Which is a better location?

Hi A,

Your apartment is down the hill from Sacre Coeur, about 1/2 km to the nearest Metro stop.

The hotel is about 200m from the Pl Nation.

I'd go with the Lux.

Thank you. I believe that the more precise question is; is the apt on rue Custine in Montmartre a safe area or are there inherent dangers for teenagers and young children? Looking at a map, it is quite close to Pigalle

Actually, that address is -behind- Sacre Coeur, nearest metro about 600 meters (Chateau Rouge). Can't say whether it's safe or not, the photos on pagesjaunes.fr show a fairly nice looking street... but it most definitely is not 'well-located'. You'll be schlepping uphill/downhill, and taking the metro everywhere (except Place du Tertre, that's walking distance).

Hi arce,

It's not so much a question of safety as of "do you want to be schlepping up and down very steep hills in Montmartre?".

Montmartre is nothing at all like "An American in Paris".
