Monterosso questions?
Hello all,
We a family of 4 one 14 year old and one 21 year old will be going there in the 2nd week of august. Now is monterosso the best beach to go to in that area or is vernazza better? And how crowded should we expect it to be, I know it's august so i'm guessing pretty crowdad right?
We will also be doing the hiking trail there.
Also, what will the water and air temp be around that area in august? Water like 78F and the air around 85F?
Thank you!!

Best beach in terms of largest and easy to access is in Monterosso, and the town itself is less hilly than the other 4 Terre in the region.
Define crowded?!! As you've said, it's August. Expect a lot of people, staying or day tripping. Not much you can do about it.
As far at temperature goes - again, it's August, in the Northern Hemisphere, so hot. As an example, you're probably looking at higher than 85F (likely around 90F during day, doesn't cool down a lot a night, but enough) and it does get humid at times, but at least you will get the odd sea breeze to cool things down a little. Good news is, usually not much rain around in August.
You're already booked (I'm guessing), so don't worry too much about the weather, crowds, etc, as you'll love the area anyway and can always use it as an excuse to sit on the beach with a gelato or cool drink and not move much at all!

Here are my pics of the beaches in Monterosso and Vernazza -

Monterosso had the nicer beach - infact the beach at Vernazza is pretty smaller and I can imagine crowded anytime except winter.
